Meals are made up of one or more recipes. Even if you're just having some strawberries as a snack, you will be adding "Strawberries" as a recipe so you can add it to your meal plan.
Most recipes are more than just a single ingredient. Here's what makes up a recipe in MealPlan:
- A name.
- A list of groceries. The grocery list is also the list of items you need to prepare the recipe, so the groceries will be listed by name, but will also include a quantity. For example, "2 Cups of All-Purpose Flour" would be an ingredient, and would result in "All-Purpose Flour" being added to your grocery list.
- A web link, if you imported the recipe from the web.
- A category, that you can use for organizing recipes. You can add a recipe to one or more categories - for example, "Side Dishes" and "Vegetable Dishes" might be categories and you can assign a recipe to both.
- Yield tells you how many servings the recipe represents. (This doesn't currently adjust the amount
- Photo lets you add a picture of your prepared recipe.
- Include in Suggestions is a switch that you can turn off if you don't want the app to suggest this recipe when planning meals. You might want to turn off suggestions for special occasion recipes like holiday recipes.
- Note is where you write out the preparation steps for the recipe.
